Welcome to Himgiri Global Institute of Nature and Mankind (HGINM)
Himgiri has been established since the late 1960’s by our great founder: Maha Guruji of Gurugoan in New Delhi, India. In 1989 Himgiri became a registered charity in Mumbai, India, becoming more exposed as it began to expand internationally. In the early 1990’s Himgiri opened its first of many centres in the UK (Hayes, Middlesex) and in 1993 it became a registered charity in London, a representation of the main Himgiri Institution in Mumbai, India.
In today’s education system in accordance to The National Curriculum children are commonly taught on subject such as English, Science, Mathematics etc, which is mainly aimed towards a profession in a child’s life. Currently the status of our society is clearly indicated through statistics of crime that young adults and children in general are lacking social ethics, moral values and spiritual development in schools, at home and within communities. After doing some research Himgiri came to know the Education act of 1996 & 2002 clearly stated ‘’children are to be taught on Social, Moral and Spiritual Development’’ (spiritual development which is based on nature and not on any particular religion). Currently the practical social education is being taught as children interact with one another, but where is the practical morals values and spiritual development taught? There was none. Therefore Himgiri decided to act by designing an education programme called Optimism; restoring the missing element in today’s society by working alongside the current education system (The National Curriculum).
This programme is designed so that children are taught social ethics, moral values and spiritual development through applied philosophy, activities such as Yoga, Meditation, Selfless Service and so on which helps to achieve self realisation. The programme is also designed to work around the National Curriculum timetable, causing no disruption to the current subjects in place. Himgiri is currently working alongside nurseries, primary and secondary schools and in the midst of approaching universities across the UK with an education syllabus that will also allow higher education students to adopt the subject of applied philosophy in humanities.
On the 10th August 2011 the civil unrest (London riots) clearly showed something was lacking within our education system, this something being social ethics and moral values. We require an education that will help young people of today change their perception towards life and society as a whole. At Himgiri we believe that every parent with children wants an education that will help, aid and steer their child or young adult’s future in a positive direction, Himgiri is here to see those wishes are fulfilled practically. Since the early 1960’s Himgiri has been specialising in devotional education through an ancient education system called Gurukul. Using activities like Yoga, Meditation and selfless service we are able to awaken self realisation within young people and train people with practical knowledge of how to be in life. Himgiri found remarkable results as each one of its students were able to clearly demonstrate a positive change in character through thought and feeling in negative situations. Current education gears young people towards a profession, when life itself is based upon devotion. Himgiri is here to teach the most successful education system of ancient time in the 21st century, applied philosophy which teaches it’s students how to be in day to day living and how become the perfect human being by practically mastering the‘’ Joy of Living’’.
